Chuck E. Cheese Ruins Childhoods Nationwide, Removes Animatronic Characters and Tokens from All Locations

Chuck E. Cheese became an American institution by offering bad pizza and animatronic characters.

Soon, all that will be left is bad pizza. But don’t worry, because you will gain a disco floor.

According to a report by Fox News, the pizza chain is modernizing by removing the robotic, animatronic characters that played music and entertained generations of kids. They are also getting rid of tokens as well.

Instead, Chuck E. Cheese locations nationwide will get a “modern” dance floors that “light up as guests move across it, and where Chuck E. Cheese himself will appear every hour.”

Some locations had already begun to remove the animatronic bands back in 2017. This new move will remove the characters from the remaining locations, in an effort to appeal to changing tastes in kids.

From Fox News:

Chuck E. Cheese’s latest announcement, however, confirms that all of its restaurants will now be ditching the robotics as part of its “fresh, modern” update. Other changes include a new logo, a new color scheme, and what the brand describes as “sleeker furniture” and “refined signage.”

It’s not just the robotic band that’s getting the boot, either. Chuck E. Cheese locations are moving away from tokens, and toward an “All You Can Play” model, whereby guardians can “load up” a card or a wristband with an amount of “time” for their children to use.
