Democratic Congresswoman at Impeachment Hearing Had a Paper Clip in Her Hair (VIDEO)
Which is more embarrassing: talking to your crush with spinach in your teeth, or asking questions at a nationally-televised presidential impeachment hearing with a paper clip stuck in your hair?
Let’s ask Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA), shall we?
During the opening hearing into President Trump’s possible impeachment, members of the House of Representatives issued statements and asked questions of witnesses.
Most took the opportunity to grandstand in front of the television cameras, but one congresswoman is getting attention for all the wrong reasons.
Rep. Speier, while speaking to witnesses at the hearing, was seen with a paper clip clearly visible in her hair. The incident (as seen in the video below) appeared to go unaddressed, as she continued to speak with no one bringing it to her attention.
The situation even inspired a hashtag: #paperclipgate.
If the impeachment hearing weren’t already a media circus, this added bit of the bizarre was the cherry on top of this crazy sundae.
In a moment televised nationally, Rep. Speier was thanking Bill Taylor and George Kent for appearing when eagle-eyed viewers noticed something in her hair.
Ok, maybe you didn’t need eagle eyes to catch it. It’s pretty obvious.
Twitter had a field day with the office supply faux pas.
In a moment in which she hoped to make the nightly news with her grandstanding, it appears the California Democrat will be remembered for this instead.
It should be noted that Speier has a history of anti-Trump activism. She even wore a “pink pussy” hat to the inauguration. Ironically, had she been wearing it Wednesday, she would have looked only slightly less ridiculous.
Regardless, here’s video of Speier after looking like she’s been rolling around the office supply closet.
Rep. Speier has yet to comment on the incident. The paper clip has also not commented.
