Genevieve O’Reilly Returning for ‘Star Wars: Cassian Andor’ Disney+ Series
The Rogue One prequel series for Disney+ will see the return of Mon Mothma.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Genevieve O’Reilly will reprise her role of the Rebel leader in Disney+’s as-of-yet-untitled Rogue One: A Star Wars Story prequel series.
O’Reilly portrayed Mon Mothma in the 2016 stand-alone anthology film, as well as in Episode III: Revenge of the Sith in 2005. She even voiced the character in an episode of the Star Wars animated series Rebels.
In 1983, Caroline Blakiston portrayed the character in Episode VII: Return of the Jedi.
Also joining the cast are Denise Gough, Stellan Skarsgard and Kyle Stoller. Their roles are not yet known.
The series, which is still scheduled to begin filming later this year, is set five years before the events of Rogue One. It follows Cassian Andor, who will once again be portrayed by Diego Luna.
The series recently lost its showrunner, with Stephen Schiff being replaced with Tony Gilroy, who co-wrote Rogue One. He will direct at least one episode, with a variety of directors handling the other episodes, as was done with the other Star Wars series for Disney+, The Mandalorian.
