Aretha Franklin Biopic ‘Respect’ Releases a Trailer (VIDEO)

The life of Aretha Franklin comes to the big screen this Christmas in the movie Respect, and we have the first trailer!

The film follows the rise of Aretha Franklin’s career from a child singing in her father’s church choir to international superstardom, in a remarkable true story of the music icon’s journey to find her voice.

The film stars Jennifer Hudson in the title role, along with Forest Whitaker as her father C.L. Franklin.

Marlon Wayans, Audra McDonald, Marc Maron, Tituss Burgess, Saycon Sengbloh, Hailey Kilgore, Tate Donovan, Heather Headley, Skye Dakota Turner, and Mary J. Blige as Dinah Washington.

Respect is directed by Liesl Tommy and produced by Scott Bernstein and Harvey Mason Jr.

Stacy Sher, Sue Baden-Powell, Aaron L. Gilbert and Jason Cloth serve as executive producers. It opens Christmas Day.
