October is “Star Wars Reads” Month!

Lucasfilm is sponsoring “Star Wars Reads” Month this October to encourage literacy among young readers.

“Star Wars Reads” is a month-long celebration of reading and Star Wars books. Now in its ninth year, the event encourages young people to get excited about reading. Beginning October 1, Star Wars Reads will offer reading resources, as well as announce special events and offers throughout the month.

In addition to a free downloadable activity kit (which you can download by clicking here), Lucasfilm will promote reading challenges and release free digital activities, in addition to holding giveaways. Promotional discounts on Star Wars books will also be announced.

Local libraries and bookstores will be holding in-person and virtual Reads events, so check with them for an event near you.

You can keep track of all events through the official Star Wars social media accounts including Twitter, the official Star Wars website, or through the hashtag #StarWarsReads.
