Disney Backs Down, Will Air Gina Carano Episode of ‘Running Wild with Bear Grylls’ It Tried to Cancel

After Disney fired ‘Mandalorian’ actress Gina Carano over her political beliefs, she stated “They can’t cancel us if we don’t let them.”

On Sunday, that statement was proven correct, as Disney changed course from its attempt to censor Carano on their streaming service.

In an announcement posted to social media on Sunday, Carano revealed that her appearance on “Running Wild with Bear Grylls” will air on NatGeo, after Disney removed it from its schedule.

The popular show, which features survivalist Grylls and a celebrity guest each episode, had filmed an installment in which he and Carano visited the Dolomites mountain range in Italy. Disney announced the episode would run during the show’s sixth season, which airs on the NatGeo network and the Disney+ streaming service.

After Carano posted a meme likening today’s hateful political polarization to tactics used in Nazi Germany, an online outrage mob convinced Disney to cut ties. Not only was Carano fired from “The Mandalorian,” Disney even blocked action figures of her character from being made. Disney also operates the NatGeo network, and removed her episode from the “Running Wild” show schedule that was announced days later.

However, Carano announced on Sunday that her episode was back on the NatGeo schedule. “Want to hear something cool,” she posted in a tweet. “Just so happens you WILL be able to see my @beargrylls episode on @natgeo after all!! Bear is a real one. I’m so glad you’re going to get to see it. My heart is so full. Airs on @natgeo May 10th at 9pm! #nevergiveup.”

Bear Grylls himself responded to the tweet with his own words of support.

The episode will air on NatGeo on May 10.
