Jennifer Garner Replaces Julia Roberts in New Apple TV+ Series
“Alias” actress Jennifer Garner will star in and executive produce “The Last Thing He Told Me,” a limited series coming to the Apple TV+ service.
The series is based on the New York Times No. 1 bestseller by Laura Dave. Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine Studio will produce, and the series is created by Dave and Oscar winner Josh Singer (Spotlight), who are married.
According to an exclusive report from Deadline, Garner replaces Julia Roberts, who had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.
The plot follows a woman (Garner) who forms an unexpected relationship with her 16-year-old stepdaughter while searching for the truth about why her husband has mysteriously disappeared.
In an Instagram post, Garner expressed her enthusiasm. “I could not be more excited,” she said. “Absolutely could not be more grateful.” She also thanked Witherspoon for the opportunity.
Garner is also starring in and executive producing another Apple TV+ limited series, an adaptation of Amy Silverstein’s memoir “My Glory Was I Had Such Friends,” with Bad Robot’s J.J. Abrams and Ben Stephenson.
Garner, who recently starred in and produced Netflix’s Yes Day, will appear next in the sci-fi film The Adam Project with Ryan Reynolds, Zoe Saldana and Mark Ruffalo. She will also appear in the comedy Family Leave, based on Amy Krouse Rosenthal’s book “Bedtime for Mommy.”
