FINALLY! ‘Picard’ Season 3 Teases the Reunion We All Wanted in Season One

It took three seasons for it to happen, but the Paramount+ series Picard is finally getting the band back together.

To celebrate First Contact Day on April 5, Paramount announced that the third season of Picard would be the series’ final season, and then dropped a bombshell. They released a teaser for the third season of Picard, announcing members of the cast. Fans will be happy to see that the series is finally bringing the original cast of The Next Generation for a final adventure. LeVar Burton, Michael Dorn, Jonathan Frakes, Gates McFadden, Marina Sirtis, and Brent Spiner were all announced as returning.

It is not clear how the cast will reunite, and what will bring them together. For the first two seasons, which has received mixed reviews from fans, featured some of the TNG cast members in cameo roles. Brent Spiner has had an expanded role, although we don’t know if he is somehow returning as Data or his current character on the show (which we won’t spoil if you haven’t watched yet).

It’s been 20 years since the Next Generation cast last appeared together, in 2002’s Star Trek: Nemesis. Fans had hoped the cast would assemble for one more ride on the Enterprise, but that has yet to materialize. Fans have been less than enthused with Picard’s new cast members and string of cameos of fan favorite characters. It seems producers are acknowledging this discontent, and giving the crew a big sendoff for the show’s final season.

Here’s the Season 3 Cast Announcement Teaser.

Here is how some of the cast reacted on social media, starting with Jonathan Frakes.

LeVar Burton

Marina Sirtis
