Michael Keaton is Batman (Again) in ‘The Flash’ First Trailer

The first trailer for The Flash has arrived, featuring Michael Keaton’s return as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the first solo movie for Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen. The film opens on June 16, and trailer reveals most of the cast and the film’s premise, which is based on the iconic “Flashpoint” storyline from the comics.

In an attempt to save his mother (Maribel Verdú) from being murdered, Allen goes back in time and inadvertently opens up the Multiverse, allowing alternate timelines to cross over. That’s why we see an older (but still incredible) Michael Keaton rocking the Batsuit. We also get a look at Ben Affleck returning as Batman as well, riding the Batcycle and wearing a new suit. The trailer also features the return of Michael Shannon as General Zod, reprising his role from Man of Steel.

We also see Sasha Calle playing Kara/Supergirl, filling a pivotal role with Henry Cavill seemingly not in the film as Superman. In a nice twist, we also see Barry meet an alternate version of himself, and if the trailer is a good indication, the duo is a significant part of the storyline. Comic fans were also excited to see the first-ever look at the Flash Ring, which contains Barry’s suit. It’s been a part of Flash lore since the 1950s, so its inclusion here is a nice callback.
