Did Rian Johnson Steal ‘The Last Jedi’ Ending From ‘Escape From L.A.?’ (VIDEO)
An intriguing new video on YouTube raises a question all Star Wars fans should hear: Did Rian Johnson rip off the ending of Escape From L.A.?
The video, posted by Lost Theater, shows a side-by-side comparison of the endings of both Escape From L.A. and Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
The video is hardly a smoking gun, because it doesn’t exactly match. However, the premise, the shot composition, and even the visual gag that pays it all off are strikingly similar.
With so many Star Wars fans unhappy with the The Last Jedi and Johnson’s decision to abandon the archetypes and character motivations that made the original films so great, this new charge of plagiarism will not sit well with them.
