Opening Dates Announced for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney Parks (VIDEO)
The long-awaited Star Wars theme park, Galaxy’s Edge, has announced their opening dates at Disney Parks in Florida and California. And it’s sooner than you think.
Galaxy’s Edge will open May 31 at Disneyland Park in California and August 29 at Disney World’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida.
The attractions mark the largest park expansion in Disney history, at over 14 acres each. The parks will be a fully immersive experience, including rides, restaurants, and the first-ever cantina in a Disney park.
According to a press release, park visitors can “live their own Star Wars adventures in Black Spire Outpost, a village on the remote planet of Batuu. Guests can become part of the story as they sample galactic food and beverages, explore an intriguing collection of merchant shops and take the controls of the most famous ship in the galaxy aboard Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.”
Not all planned attractions will be ready on opening day. A “Rise of the Resistance” phase of attractions opens later in the year.
Galaxy’s Edge will also feature a “choose your own adventure” component, with each choice potentially impacting their visit. “In this all-new environment, guests can make choices about their experience that could impact their adventures as they travel throughout the land by using the Play Disney Parks mobile app in a whole new way,” Disney announced.
Those who want to visit Galaxy’s Edge this year will have to make a no-cost reservation.
