Adidas Unveils Game of Thrones Sneakers
Nothing says “Westeros” like a pair of $180 running shoes.
The final season of “Game of Thrones” is bringing a wave of new merchandise, including sneakers from shoe maker Adidas.
The Game of Thrones Ultraboost line of running shoes features six different styles, some representing the different “houses” featured on the show. Houses Lannister and Stark each get a shoe in unisex/men’s sizes, while the House Targaryen shoe is available in both men’s and women’s sizes.
The Night’s Watch and the White Walkers each get their own shoes, and each style includes a small tag on the heel with a phrase, like “Winter is Coming” on the House Stark shoe, “Hear Me Roar” for the House Lannister shoe, and “Fire and Blood” for the House Targaryen shoe. “Night’s Watch” adorns the Night’s Watch shoe, and the White Walker shoe says, appropriately, “Winter is Here.”
Outside of the tag and faithful color schemes, however, the shoes bear no symbols or designs that even indicate they are related to the show. Only a true sneaker collector would even realize the connection. That may cause some Game of Thrones fans to rethink the purchase, considering the $180 price tag.
