Alyssa Milano’s Show Canceled by Netflix

Alyssa Milano is going to have a lot more time to complain about Donald Trump on Twitter, after Netflix canceled her show today.

Milano appeared on “Insatiable,” a dark comedy that ran for two season on the video streaming service. She appeared with Debby Ryan and Dallas Roberts on the show, which she had hoped would be brought back for a third season.

Milano spends most of her time, however, as an activist for various liberal causes, including gun control. She was also part of the celebrity opposition to the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.

The actress confirmed her show’s cancellation to a fan on Twitter. “We will not be coming back, sadly,” she said in a tweet that now appears to have been deleted.

Once Netflix confirmed the cancellation, however, she made a more official announcement in a tweet. “This is sadly true,” she said. “We had the most fun creating this show. I want to thank the fans who gave us a shot and kept coming back for more.”

Netflix described the show this way:

“For years, Patty (Debby Ryan) has been bullied, ignored, and underestimated by those around her because of her weight. But now that she finds herself suddenly thin, Patty is out for payback against anyone who has ever made her feel bad about herself. Bob Armstrong (Dallas Roberts), a disgraced attorney whose true passion is coaching beauty pageant contestant, is the only one who sees Patty’s potential, and takes her under his wing — first as a legal client, and then as a pageant contestant whom he coaches toward becoming the top pageant queen in the country. But Bob and his wife Coralee (Alyssa Milano) have no idea how deep Patty’s rage goes, or how far she will go to exact revenge on anyone who has ever wronged her.”

Milano’s politics don’t go over very well with many people on the social media platform. Last October, she listed her personal pronouns on Twitter and demanded others do the same when they introduce themselves. That led to widespread mockery.

Last May, Milano tweeted that women should go on a “sex strike” and refuse to sleep with men to protest laws that ban late term abortions. She was widely criticized by feminists, who said she insinuated women needed to use their bodies to affect political change.
