Watch a Clip from ‘The Sound of 007’ James Bond Documentary (VIDEO)

A new documentary from Amazon Studios explores the history of music throughout the James Bond movies. The Sound of 007 was released on October 5, James Bond Day, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the release of Dr. No, and a trailer and clip from the documentary is featured below.

Mat Whitecross’ documentary uses interviews and archival material to chronicle the music, beginning with the score written by Monty Norman for the first Bond film, Dr. No in 1962, which was then arranged by composer John Barry. It then chronicles the work of composers who created the subsequent film scores, including Bill Conti, Éric Serra, David Arnold, Thomas Newman, and Hans Zimmer.

There’s also a look at the musicians who wrote the signature songs for each film’s opening, from Duran Duran to Adele to Sam Smith, and finally to Billie Eilish, who wrote the Oscar-winning song for No Time To Die.

The documentary is produced by Ventureland and Eon Productions, who also produced the documentary James Bond, Everything or Nothing: The Untold Story of 007.

Bond producer Michael G. Wilson called the documentary a “labor of love,” saying “We were thinking of something to do for the 60th anniversary, and we’d done different kinds of documentaries over the years, and the idea of doing a musical seemed to fit. So many great songs, and so many great artists, and so many great songwriters, it seemed like the time was right.”
