New ‘Star Trek: Picard’ Season 3 Trailer Features Nostalgia and Surprises (VIDEO)

The new trailer for Star Trek: Picard Season 3 was released at the New York Comic Con this weekend, and it looks like Paramount finally listened to the fans and got the band back together for a final adventure. They even managed to drop a few surprises that hard-core Next Generation fans will love.

The trailer featured great looks at the returning Enterprise crew members: Jonathan Frakes as Will Riker, LeVar Burton as Geordi La Forge, Gates McFadden as Beverly Crusher, Marina Sirtis as Deanna Troi, and Michael Dorn as Worf. Michelle Hurd as Raffi Musiker and Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine are returning cast members seen in the trailer, which gave a good indication of the plot and the return of some classic Star Trek villains.

The main villain appears to be someone named Vadic, played by Pulp Fiction’s Amanda Plummer, the captain of a ship named the Shrike. Vadic is after Picard, although we don’t know exactly why. In a surprising twist, there are also two familiar villains in this final season. Brent Spiner, who appeared in past seasons as Data, Adam Soong, and Altan Soong, returns once more as Lore, Data’s evil twin brother, who was long thought deactivated in a classic season seven episode of Next Generation.

Also returning is the character of Professor Moriarty, the Sherlock Holmes villain who appeared in several memorable episodes when a holodeck story goes awry. He will once again be played by actor Daniel Davis, and we don’t know how the holodeck character will return.

In a very nice development, we get to see the next generation of the Next Generation cast. Geordi has two daughters who will appear in the new season. Sharpe Chestnut will play Ensign Sidney La Forge, Geordi’s eldest daughter who serves as the conn officer on the U.S.S. Titan. LeVar Burton’s real-life daughter, Mica Burton, will play Ensign Alanda La Forge, Geordi’s youngest daughter.

Star Trek: Picard premieres on the Paramount+ streaming service on February 16, 2023. You can click here to visit the Paramount+ website and subscribe.
