Jennifer Garner, JJ Abrams Reunite for New TV Series
Jennifer Garner became a superstar after starring in J.J. Abrams’ hit show Alias. 18 years later, they are teaming up again for a new series.
Apple TV, in an effort to expand their original programming, has ordered a limited series from J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot Productions starring Garner. Abrams will serve as executive producer.
According to a report from Variety, the limited series will be based on Amy Silverstein’s memoir “My Glory Was I Had Such Friends.” The book tells Silverstein’s story about the group of women who supported her as she endured a life-saving second heart transplant.
In 2001, Jennifer Garner shot to fame playing spy Sydney Bristow in Abrams hit show “Alias” on ABC. The show ran for five seasons and won Garner a Golden Globe and four Emmy nominations. She would go on to have a successful movie career, while Abrams has become one of Hollywood’s most celebrated directors.
Abrams, Ben Stephenson, and Silverstein will executive produce under the Bad Robot banner, in association with Warner Bros. Karen Croner will serve as writer and executive producer.
A premiere date for the series has not been announced, and is only one of several new projects ordered by Apple TV. A new series of “Peanuts” specials and shorts was also ordered by the streaming video provider.
