WATCH: ‘American Underdog’ Featurette Highlights Newcomer Hayden Zaller

A new behind-the-scenes featurette for the film American Underdog introduces moviegoers to an inspirational member of the cast.

The film tells the true story of Kurt Warner (Zachary Levi), who went from a stockboy at a grocery store to a two-time NFL MVP, Super Bowl champion, and Hall of Fame quarterback. It also focuses heavily on Warner’s family life, including his marriage to Brenda (Anna Paquin) and the relationship he develops with Brenda’s son Zack, who is visually impaired and developmentally disabled after suffering a traumatic brain injury as an infant at the hands of his birth father.

Kurt adopted Zack after marrying Brenda, who is currently living at Treasure House in Glendale, Arizona, a place established by the Warners for people with special needs and disabilities.

In the film, Zack is portrayed by Hayden Zaller, who is legally blind in real life and acting in his first film. He was discovered as part of a nationwide audition process.

In this featurette, the cast and crew of American Underdog discuss Hayden and his place in the film.

American Underdog is in theaters now.
